Read her hilarious natural hair journey below;
I almost forgot how my natural hair journey begun till I went back to look at my old pictures and saw my dyed hair, then I remembered.
In 2013 I was so obsessed with doing the big chop and the only person holding me back from doing so was my mum.
She just didn’t understand why I wanted to cut my permed hair. So I came up with a plan; “Dye your hair, she might hate it so much and have you cut it all off” I thought to myself.
So I went to a salon and dyed my hair GOLD which left me feeling so shy from all the looks I got through town on my way home.
I got home and the first thing my mum said when she saw the dyed hair was “wow! That color looks good on you” You won’t believe my shock.
I was so bummed and I didn’t love the color, and most importantly my plans had failed.
So I had to come up with a way of feeling confident with this new hair on my head. Also I was really afraid of how I was going to be received by my fans and the general public.
I’m not a fan of Weaves either so I was lost on what to do with my hair. Then I remembered a look I did years back with perm rods “straw curls”that I really liked, so I started doing this straw curls (which I named Fab3bom) and that was my look for many appearances on TV and at various functions. People were in love with this look and it really took me by surprise but I enjoyed the attention I was getting and all of a sudden I became a hair expert. lol
Every natural hair lady wanted to know how I achieved that look, even though my hair was permed, but they didn’t know that because the straw curls gave it a natural look. Rocked it from 2013 to 2016 when I finally decided to try natural hair and know for myself how to keep it so I could help other natural hair ladies who loved my hair.
I did my big chop on the 19th of May 2016 and my natural hair is 5 months already.
The freedom with natural hair is mind blowing, I don’t have to worry about sitting under the drier for hours. Started using wenatural products and I am trying other products as well. So far wenatural is my favourite product for my hair.
