EVEN THE DEAF AND DUMP KNOWS M.ANISFEST IS FAR BETTER THAN SARKODIE THE BRAGGART - ASIEDU NKATIAH
The lyrical feud between sensational rappers M.anifest and Sarkodie seem to have taken another turn as the general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) added his voice to the beef in an exclusive telephone interview with MiM radio in Accra. The General Secretary who is popularly known as General Mosquito described the beef as Tom and Jerry cartoon fight, in his recent remark explained that “M.anifest the son of astute lawyer
Tsatau Tsikata is as intelligent as his father, no two ways about it, the gentleman is an intellectual, more than a mere rapper among his peers and there is no way Opana who only brags can compare himself to him even the deaf and dumb knows that”. When asked who Opana is, General Mosquito replied “the blind does not need to look into a mirror to confirm he is blind”, he further revealed he loves hip hop music and other genre of Ghanaian music especially high life and gospel and some of his favourite musicians include Mzbell, Bisa Kdei, King Ayisoba, Ohemaa Mercy,Bukom Banku and Shatta Wale.
When asked whether he had listened to both songs, He laughed and replied “small boys are young”, I used to rap during my secondary school days in Techiman and the General of Ghanaian politics surprisingly rapped and explained the first verse of godMC by M.anifest. Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nkatiah explained that the first line of the godMC He pulls up Screaming Hallelujah in a barracuda means M.anifest is in a car 1980s Benz 380 SEL which literally means he is an Old money “Dadaba for a long time” Smoking buddha in Fallujah, this he explained to cherished listeners “Fallujah is a hostile place.. you can’t say hallelujah there because you will be killed.. this tells you Manifest can stand hostility and walk around doing whatever he wants in the most hostile environments — he has a thick skin”
When asked by the host what the meaning of Clash of the Titans in the song, Mr. Aseidu Nkatiah explained “it is very obvious the son of Tsatsu knows Greek mythology and he is saying he dines with gods and has faced Medusa, yet he didn’t turn into a stone simply because he is superior even to feared gods. M.anifest is forever strong, that is like Perseus, unconquerable.
General Mosquito as affectionately called by many Ghanaians stressed that “the style Manifest raps is the depth of poetry, it’s an art form and its mastered in idioms and metaphors that pick from diverse scenarios… You have to understand literature to understand the language… That’s poetry. That’s how rap began, rhyming words and stringing meanings with metaphorical undertones. We don’t learn comprehension well these days, that’s why from music to politics, we want everything translated literally. Just goes to show that we need to begin to learn more, whether in our local language or transliterations.
If you ask me, I believe that because we don’t read as much as our fathers did, we don’t understand the concept of flowery texts anymore. These days we don’t want to know much, like its unfashionable to have depth in our language, so we say things like too much brofo: But you would realize that even in Twi or Ga, it resonates. We are losing the richness of dialog. That ability to understand and appreciate complex dialog does wonderful things to our brain”
