nana addo is not a good leader for Ghana
A recent Western intelligent compiled for multinational companies willing to do business in Africa, has named Mr. Warren Kizza Besigye Kifefe of Uganda’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as the most peaceful opposition leader in Africa. On the contrary, the report rated Ghana’s Akuffo Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the most divisive and dangerous opposition leader in Africa, whose demeanour has the potential to instigate violent political conflict in the country.
According to the report, Kizza Besigye had reasonable grounds to incite the supporters of his party for violence, to challenge the legitimacy of President Yoweri Museveni but on all occasions, his peaceful nature prevented violent clashes in Uganda. Kizza Besigye, a physician, politician, and a former military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Force served as the presidential candidate of the FDC party but lost four consecutive elections between 2001, and 2016 presidential elections.GhanaPoliticsOnline.Com
All the elections were won by the incumbent Yoweri Museveni, who has been President of Uganda since 26 January 1986. Even though the results of the 2006 elections were contested in court, and found to have been rigged Besigye never pushed his supporters to the path of bloodshed.
The 163 page report, which is very detailed on current affairs on the African continent, also mentioned the leader of Togo’s main opposition party, the National Alliance for Change (ANC), Mr. Jean-Pierre Fabre, who challenged the incumbent President Faure Gnassingbe 2010 and 2015 but lost as the second most peaceful opposition leader in Africa and the best within the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWA) Sub-region region.
The report states that, even though Togo, a former French colony, is a volatile democracy, the 63 years old Fabre, has been able to keep his supporters from engaging in violent protest, as compared to Gilchrist Olympio, the former opposition leader.
The report indicates that, Mr. Fabre has been very faithful to his core political principle, to foster national unity and secure political reforms. Another popular opposition figure mentioned in the report to have a peaceful disposition, is former Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr. Raila Amolo Odinga was mentioned as a peaceful.GhanaPoliticsOnline.Com
On the contrary, the report raise a red flag about threats and conflict disposition of the current opposition leaders of Ghana, Egypt, Comoros, South Sudan, Mali, Central African Republic and DR Congo.
In the case of Ghana, the report state that, even though Ghana is more stable democracy in Africa with very transparent democratic institutions, the leader of largest minority party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is very aggressive, divisive, intolerance and largely perceive as violent, and tribalistic.
The report states that, Nana Akufo Addo’s posture and political demeanour pose a threat to the peace and security of Ghana (the forbearers of democracy in Africa). The report accused Nana Akufo Addo of provoking unrest and inventing claims of a rigged election in order to draw media attention and have firm hold of his party supporters.
“He provokes public order, as a tool of attracting the media and making unsubstantiated claims about the transparency and fairness of all the elections he contested, such tactics are dangerous and irresponsible.”
He has instigated his supporters to violence on several occasions which led to the loss of 15 lives, and therefore he has the penchant of not accepting over 90 percent of election results he genuinely lost.
