Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka 'Sir John' has vigorously declared that President John Dramani Mahama would at all cost loose the coming polls even if he decides to paint every part of Ghana with his party colours and pictures.

“Mahama is my very good friend but I am telling him without doubt that he can paint the whole of Ghana with his party colours and pictures, but would still lose the up-coming elections,” he insisted.

Speaking on UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' during the panel discussion, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie noted “On a more serious note, I don’t know why the president commissioned the Komenda Sugar factory when the authorities he has contracted to work on the project had told him it would be ready for operation in six (6) months time. What prevented the president from waiting till the factory is ready for operation before he commissions? It is a disgrace on the part of this country to build a factory and again shut it down two days after its commissioning.”

According to him he gets angry when he hear government telling ECG to reduce prices put on electricity tariffs, when they are the same people who gave them the directive to do so.

He asked Ghanaians to be vigilant and not be flattered when they hear such utterances from the President and his communicators, because they are just formalities to calm Ghanaians down.

“It is government who has made electricity tariffs more than our rent. You can all bear me witness that the president has made it clear to us in most of his speeches that we should be ready to pay more for electricity if we want have access to it. This is why I am telling Government to blame itself and not ECG for the mess caused,” he told ‘Adekye Nsroma’ host Lawyer Tweneboah Koduah.

To him, NPP with discipline and trust would stabilize the Ghanaian economy, making life very conducive for everyone once they are voted into power.

He clarified that the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) which is supposed to intercede for Ghanaians have now become a government communication machinery.

“it is very bad for the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) who is supposed to be an independent body interceding for consumers now decide to be the spokesperson for government forgetting about the public,” he said.
